There are three good reasons today for someone to learn CW, besides
the licensing requirements that the FCC has slated for the chopping
block:
* Contesting - gives you that many more opportunities to enjoy
contesting.
* QRP & Homebrew - simplest rigs are all CW.
* It's fun!

It is true in the QRP community. Lots of building still going on in
that crowd.

Digital contesting is really different from CW contesting.
So long as CW remains fun, it will never go away.
