Wouldn't the first 5-band or 6-band sweep be something? Allow one QSO per station per band, and eliminate the Sunday doldrums. Every year this is suggested, and every year it is a bad idea. We already have a contest that allows one QSO per station per band, along with mults per band. It is called the North American QSO Party. SS does not need to be a longer NAQP. SS is challenging the way it is. There's no need to "fix" it, since it isn't broken. In the past, suggestions of this sort were met with the complaint, "That'd be just another NAQP." Yes, because it would be. My response is "What's wrong with that," particularly if it attracts SS-plus levels of participation instead of the few hundred regulars who get involved in NAQPs. I love the NAQPs! But I also like SS the way it is. Viva la difference!
