Contesters,
Again this year the CCC gang combined with VERONA (the Curacao amateur
radio club) to put on a small PJ2HQ operation in the IARU contest. The
primary goal was social, followed by success in the contest as a distant
second goal. We didn't do so well in the contest, as most stations were
unmanned much of the time -- the party and food were the bigger draw.
A special treat this year was the presence on the PJ2HQ team of Dan Bradke,
W2AU, the 14 year old winner of the "Young Ham" award and his sponsor, KY1V.
My XYL (Cindy) made her usual incredible luncheon buffet, and we hosted
about 30 PJ2 ops, XYLs, and kids on Saturday during the contest. As you'll
see from the photos, the party was a huge success. What a fabulous
international hobby this is.
Please see http://asgard.kent.edu/ccc/iaru.2004.home.htm for details, and
then click on the "PJ2HQ Photo Album" link to view the thumbnails. Each
thumbnail is accompanied by a larger photo, most of which have captions.
Thanks for the Qs,
- Geoff, W0CG, PJ2DX
