I actually switch back and forth between VFO's when working split. I
listen to the DX on VFO A and transmit on VFO B. When the DX comes
back to someone I'll switch to VFO B and see if I can hear the guy in
QSO with the DX to be sure I am on the correct Tx freq, check out how
many others are calling, etc.
I was surprised just how many EURO DX stations I could hear on 40 mtrs
Friday nite (local PST) of the contest. Problem most couldn't hear me
on a little trapped sloper. Did much better to EA8 and SA and the
Caribbean.
And congratulations on being able to squeeze one more watt out of the
V26DX station between the ARRL CW (99 watts) and the ARRL SSB (100
watts)
