For single operators it isn't. Pretty easy to define the unassisted category,
at least. You just use your radio. That's all.
I think the issue is the evolving nature of assistance. The technology of
figuring out what frequency every station in the contest is on will
continue to advance. (Doesn't WriteLog have some kind of network of
users who share real-time frequency information?). The question of
whether this enhances or destroys the fun of contests is yet to be
answered.
