I find that behavior typical of people in those call areas. I also suspect
that you just could not hear the guys in 2 and 3 land doing the same thing.

Yes, I also find that irritating, but it's a predictable contest
behavior. From the other end, it is equally irritating when I'm the W1
who shuts up and then hears the DX come back to the W4...
