Hans, you are entitled to your own opinion.  The file is there for
those who want to use it.  If you don't want to use it, you don't have
to.  If the rule makers would say it is not legal then it should not
be used.  But that is NOT the case.  But please don't call me a lame
operator when operating a contest from Manila with a lot of man made
QRN using an R-7 vert and a dipole working EUR and Russian stations,
along with others, with weak signals and heavy accents.  If it helps
me identify a station so I can get on to the next caller quicker then
so much the better.
If I remember right you have a background in aviation.  I used to file
my fight plans then on taxing out to the runway get my clearance from
ATC.  Would you begrudge me to know while coping my clearance I
checked what was being sent to me against the copy of what I had filed
to insure it's accuracy?
