We've been using Ethernet at KC1XX for the last couple (few) years. One
advantage is that all computers go to a central hub, there is no daisy
chain. Only a computer which is temporarily off the network will miss a
QSO -- it doesn't break the chain like a bad bulb in those old-fashioned
string Christmas lights. Plus the implications around serial ports is obvious.
Ethernet cards are throw-away items these days ($10 for a 10MB card). Good
luck finding a 2-serial port expansion card for that kind of money.
