[CQ-Contest] possible error on my part

Subject: [CQ-Contest] possible error on my part

I'm surprised that the Section News debacle wasn't by voice vote
as well. The public service folks (traffic handlers, ARES types, etc.)
get precious little recognition as it is, and many were driven by a
desire to see their call in the magazine once a month (BPL, traffic
totals, etc.)

I know that during the 4 years I was Ohio Section Manager, if I missed
including a callsign for someone who reported traffic to me, I heard
about it loud and long.

Of course, traffic handlers are a smaller consituancy than even
contesters, so they can be "dissed" without fear of meaningful
retaliation, despite their direct link to the origins of the ARRL.

I expect that this was the straw that broke the camel's back in
the resignation of the Great Lakes Director, who had a long
history in the Field Organization before joining the Board. he
reportedly didn't even wait until after the halfway point of the
meeting to leave.

Gotta run the League as a business. Can't keep any of those
nostalgic links to the past.

Perhaps they can use the Wouff Hong as firewood this Winter
to conserve fuel and save a buck?
