Anybody have a chance to compare the footprint of the "standard" DIN
jack to that of the one used by Kenwood & Yaesu?
If they're the same, then why not change the jack to something that
matches plugs which are more easily obtained?
Funky connectors, swapping pins from standard convention & other
SONY-inspired silliness doesn't belong in amateur equipment.
Try to find anything but a bog standard DIN plug in a place like 9M6!
A favorite short cut for mains plugs out here is to strip the wires, jam
them into the socket & ram chopsticks in to hold them in place - though
the reason for doing so is laziness, not for want of the right plug.
Substitute a toothpick for the chopstick & any funky DIN need not
be a problem!
