(QRO stations press DELETE now)
This is an open letter to all hams who get into contests to whatever degree
and intensity and for whatever purpose, yet send everything twice.
Please Stop.
Send everything once and only once.
If the other station needs a fill, he/she will ask for it.
Until then, assume that they got the message--of course, you should get some
sort of acknowledgement.
It doesn't matter if you are QRP, Low Power, or the legal limit.
Send your info once.
In ARRL DX CW, it was incredible how many stations were pounding in at my
station, yet they sent their calls twice, sent 599 twice, their power twice.
I know from having operated ARRL DX CW outside the country that stateside
stations should be paying attention to this, too.
If you fall into this category of sending info twice, consider that you have
essentially reduced the number of QSO's you might make in a specific time
frame anywhere from 50% to 20% or 30%. By sending info once, getting an ACK
for it, you are that must closer to making your next QSO and improving your
previous scores.
Give it a try. Even if you run up against a series of stations who ask for
fills, keep sending the info once. Even when they do ask for a fill, send
the fill once. If they get it, they'll ACK for it. If not, they'll ask for
a repeat.
73 and see you in the contests
