In my view, this would make WPX even less interesting. By working new
mults on every band, virtually every QSO would be a new multiplier, so
there would be no reason to look for mults, or even strategize about
them. Even now, there is very little reason to worry about mults - our
KT8X m/m effort in the past SSB contest had 1369 mults in 7401 QSOs -
that's almost one mult every five QSOs.
If you want strategy, look at the IARU HF championship where the ratio of
QSOs to multipliers is very high - in some categories approaching
20:1. Granted, the need for strategy is increased because mults are
counted by band, but the main factor is that there are few multipliers to
begin with.
"Rate-fest" contests can be exciting, but boring without multipliers being
important.
