this weekend sponsored by the Nova Scotia Amateur Radio Association.
It looks like the beginnings of a "Nova Scotia QSO Party".

NSARA CONTEST
The Nova Scotia Amateur Radio Association (NSARA) wishes to announce a
new Amateur Contest to be held on Sunday, March 14 1999.
HOURS - The contest will run for EIGHT hours in two, four-hour sessions.
The Morning Session will begin at 8:00 am local time
and will run for FOUR hours until 12:00 pm local time.
The Afternoon Session will begin at 2:00 pm local time
and will run for FOUR hours until 6:00 pm local time.
OPERATING BAND - All contacts for contest credit will take place on
the 80 meter band PHONE and CW sections.
MULTIPLIERS - The counties of NOVA SCOTIA will count as multipliers,
but any ham from anywhere can take part.
MORE INFORMATION - Complete rules, log sheets, and county lists are
available on the NSARA Web page at:

So, on Sunday March 14 get on 80 meters to give out your county and make
a few contacts. Participation certificates for all who make 25 contacts
and submit a log.
