Congratulations on a fine score - good job. What I do is contest against
myself, not the others, and each year try for a better score than the year
before. Regarding SP7VC/7, he was portable 7 in Poland. Some countries make
you ID if you are not at the home QTH. We had to do it here in the US until
just a few years ago. If he was portable in the US he would sign SP7VC/W7.
BTW, if you are confused about the prefixes, the ARRL has a nice listing on

Australia (WIA) November 1998 amateur radio journal made no mention of =
the 10m contest free zone.

2. I checked my copy of CQ magazine for the 10m rules published in Dec =
1997. Again there was no mention of any 10m contest free zone. My copy =
of CQ for December 1998 is still on the boat to Australia - so I can't =
check to see if the new rule has surfaced yet in CQ magazine.

3. I am a regular subscriber and reader of CQ contest journal. I have =
not seen any mention or discussion of the 10m contest free zone in the =
CQ contest journal.

4. All of these journals do their very best to support and promote all =
contests - including ARRL contests. If the contest journal editors new =
nothing about the new rule, I am left wondering how the ARRL expected =
all DX and North American contesters to be aware of the new rule.
6. As an active contester I have a clear responsibility to follow the =
rules. Therefore, according to Dan's latest announcement, the 1,526 =
QSO's that I made during 34 hours of weekend operation were not contest =
QSO's. I was just DXing and not planning to send in a log. I read the =
clear message that Dan does not want to see my log. At least I am in =
good company - there were literally thousands DX QSOs made this weekend =
in the 10m contest free zone.

On a more positive note, I really did enjoy the great openings over the =
weekend. The weekend was full of many magic moments. One such moment was =
during an SSB run on 28.490, I was able to pick David KA7OZO/QRP through =
the pile up. He was running 1.8 watts from Oregon. I also worked =
Scandinavia QRP SSB. I worked Europe long path - both phone and CW. The =
long path from VK into New York was also wide open.
If I had intended sending in a log, it would likely have been among the =
top Single Op Mixed mode High Power entries. Last year I made it to 2nd =
World place with 720,000 points. This year, I set a new personal best =
with a score of 1,210,048 points. I can assure you that getting this far =
from VK is a big achievement.
Thanks to all the stations who pointed their beams at VK land. I will be =
back again for another one. This 10m contest is too good to be spoiled =
by a poorly conceived and poorly communicated rule.
I sincerly hope you North American chaps can sort this one out for a =
complete "win-win" solution.
