To the Contest and flham FQP reflectors.
With the addition of 1 point QSOs to the WPX, I hope that everyone who has
been so vocal about making changes to the contests to make them better will
indeed get on next year to test drive this change....
Indeed the most important things are those which bring you joy, including
contesting as Felipe NP4Z brought to our attention on the contest
reflector....he sounds like someone about to become a parent or
something.....
If you really feel that contests should always be evaluated so that their
rules can be fine tuned to ever improve them then please help in the
following manner, next weekend is the re-birth of the Florida QSO Party and
we would like your opinion AFTER the contest as to how it could have been
better.
Unlike many QSO parties which tend to end up as 20 meter ssb only events,
we have tried to create a parity for cw and ssb QSOs and to encourage
working both not only by weighting cw qsos vs. phone qsos but by offering a
given county as a multiplier on BOTH modes.......i.e. if you can work W1YL
in Hillsborough County on both cw and ssb and also K4VUD in Seminole county
on ssb and cw that is 4 multipliers. Kinda like the 10 meter contest which
a few of us Floridians are fond of.
Please test drive the new and improved FQP, we hope you will like it - and
if you do not let us know that, too!
Sound interesting? Go to the website at the bottom of this message to
find out more, including the on the air listing where we Floridians are
proud to show operator commitments for all 67 of the FL counties......
We hope to recognize the participants if the FQP, because they will be
those are the ones who will make it a fun thing!
Anybody have a clue how to keep our windshield wipers from turning on and
off whenever we go key down in the mobile? (I know - pull the fuse)
There is less now than one week til the Florida QSO Party on April 25 & 26!
Just Work It!
Phone on the hour - CW on the half hour....all 67 Florida Counties have
operator commitments!
73, see you in the FQP
