The OpenLogger web site and prototype software has (finally)
been updated. Visit the web page at:
http://www.berkshire.net/~robbins/logger/index.html
The software download is available from the 'Software' link
on that page.
For those of you who have forgotten the OpenLogger it is an
open project to develop the next generation of logging
program. At this time it is based on the JavaBeans
component architecture. This would allow the logger to run
on any platform that supports Java including hopefully the
net Network Computers.
Over the (almost) last year I have completely changed the
design of the OpenLogger to better take advantage of the
JavaBeans architecture and improvements included in JDK 1.1.
The download package also includes all the source, build
batch files, and a J++ workspace that makes it easier to find
and edit source code (J++ can not build the OpenLogger yet
since it does not support JDK 1.1).
To run the OpenLogger you must also download the JDK or JRE
from Sun, links are available from the download page with the
instructions for installing.
Remeber, this is prototype software. It is being released
more as a basis for future discussions than to try to run
and do something useful. Do not expect the log file it
generates to be compatible or even convertable to any future
version.
