Our radio club uses the Civil Defense Honda generators during field
day. This gets them used at least once a year to prevent or identify
potential problems should they be needed for an emergency. They are
quiet, both RF and exhaust, and very stingy on fuel. However, they
are probably the most expensive one can buy.
A Tripp Lite line conditioner or on-line UPS is a good thing to have
to smooth out any voltage spikes/drops. With the UPS, you can
continue operating even during refuling shutdowns.
