Hi guys!
Soyuz Radiolybitelej Rossii (the Union of Radioamateurs of Russia) an
IARU member
has honor to invite contesters worldwide to participate in OLD NEW YEAR
Contest.
It's a short contest and it wouldn't take much time from your families!
The unusual combination "OLD NEW YEAR" is a part of Russia's history.
Until
February 14, 1918 in Russia we used the calendar which has a 13 days
difference
with modern one. When the country moved to modern calendar many people
continued
to celebrate the New Year using "old style date". The tradition still
exist and
we usually celebrate both NEW YEAR on January, 1 and OLD NEW YEAR on
January 13.
A special event station R1FL is expected to be on the air during on
January 10-11.
R1FL is ever first call sign used by Russian HAM in January 1925 so this
contest
will celebrate 73 (!) years of HAM radio in Russia.
The ONY CONTEST will be held from 5 to 10 UTC on January, 10 1998.
Band: 20, 40 and 80 meters.
Modes: CW and SSB.
Exchange: RS(T) and 2 or 3 figures (the sum of operator age
and
on-the-air
experience)
On the air experience counts from the very first QSO. Club stations use
sum
of "average age" of all operators (sum of ages divided by number of
operators)
and "age" of this club station.
Dupes are allowed on different bands and on the same band if other mode
is used.
Each QSO gives points according to the contest exchange received.
For example: you received 5856 and got 56 points.
There is no multiplier in this contest.
The final score is the sum of QSO points.
Contest entries: single OP all bands
single OP (ham experience 50 years and over) all
bands
single OP (the sum of age and ham experience
more then
100 years) all
bands
multi OP - single transmitter.
Not later than January, 31 the log is to be send to the SRR:
Box 59, 105122 Moscow, Russia
E-mail submissions for this year contest should be sent to:
ra3auu@contesting.com
The "oldtimer's tops " for 1997 year ONY CONTEST were UA9CF (sum - 156
years) and UA3NAL (YL, sum 124 years) ! Who will overcome ?
Good luck boys ...
73s to all, de Harry RA3AUU
