Thanks to K5TR, W0UN, K5TSQ, DF4RD, K7HBN, N4UK, ZL2BSJ, W2YR & K6NA for
their responses to my query about beads for making current baluns.
For everyone's benefit:
- An Amidon distributor has a web page, http://bytemark.com/amidon
- Amidon's FB43-1024 is the bead used by most (1024 size will slip over
RG-8 & 213), although #73 or #77 mixes are better at HF (or #75 at lower
HF), some have experienced problems with heating. Teflon coax would be the
thing to use here.
- Palomar has a #43 mix split bead (for lazy folks like me who can't be
bothered to pull off the plugs & slip the beads on afterwards).
- For those who aren't inclined to roll their own, K6NA & DX Engineering
are possible sources to consider.
