to QSL PLEASE in CT ver.9.

Besides the SSTV characters and the nuts on 75m, I ran into a
humerous character on 20 meters.
I was sitting on 14.1503 (yes, this IS in the band on USB) to
get some temporary relief from the horrible QRM which was
everywhere else.
This chap rolls up on frequency and informs me that I'm in the
Canadian Window. I never knew there was such a thing as a
Canadian Window. Perhaps there is such a company up there which
makes highly insulated glass - I don't know...
I informed him that I was not in his Canadian Window, and was
operating legally.
He continued to complain (and maliciously interfere). I asked
him for his callsign. Much to my surprise he gave it - a TG9!!
I'm not sure why a TG9 is so concerned about the Canadian Window.
Anyway, I asked him if he worked for the FCC or DOC, to which he
replied no. I then told him that whatever frequency I choose to
be on is my responsibility and he shouldn't be concerned about
which "Window" I happen to be in.
Satisfied with this answer, he left! (probably the biggest
surprise - and relief!)
With total lack of enforcement by the FCC, our bands have become
virtually lawless. You can do most anything you want and get
away with it, as long as it isn't sustained for a long period of
time. Ignoring it is fine, but some of these guys occasionally
have big signals and know how to use them (fortunately, a
minority). Maybe we, as hams need to employ satellite technology
to determine the whereabouts of these folks and let them know
that we know who they are. Faced with exposure, most will take
up other pursuits. The FCC gets time on the government sats for
ocassional DFing jobs. Perhaps this might be a nice side feature
of the next bunch of OSCARS.
We can dream, can't we.

getting rid of such people:

In years that have passed by, while operating in both the
US and in Europe, I found it most effective to acknowledge
those "jerk Policemen" kindly. Some possible responses to
guys who want to tell you that you are outside of your
assigned band (in the Canadian band), when in fact you
are NOT outside:
1. Ooopps, sorry about that & thanks for the info,
I'll check that out here momentarily.....QRZ SS
2. Thanks for the info, but I have special authoriza-
tion from the FCC to operate here. Appreciate the input
though. (Note: Your special authorization is your Ham
License)
3. Thanks for the info....I'll check the freq and
QSY momentarily....by the way you are 59-North
Dakota....or whatever.
This technique and others like it usually satisfy those
guys, they don't continue to hassle you, and usually they
go away. It is just tough to do.....because everyone
wants to OJ them!!
It really does work!!

I have tried several times to send an e-mail to the Force12 company =
with no success. The e-mail address I am using is force12@ibm.net which =
bounces because "ibm.net" does not know of that local user. This was =
the address in their ads. Any clue what the real address is?
