So, I guess Bos represents "the law" here... hi
73 to y'all, and CU from SL3ZV on 20, 40, 80 and 160 !!
Jon, sm3ojr
>>
Hmmmm...
CQ WPX rules specifically say NO. Inconsistency between CQ WW and WPX?
soo..... if bunch decides to play it safe, you can go with one call on all
bands, and if one band srews up (or another bunch beats you) and you decide
to submit other bands as single band entries (scores look good for SB
results), it's OK? (providing there is no assistance and no packet) Maybe
this needs reconsideration and confirmation. Personally I like WPX ruling,
leaves less grey area and confusion.

Hi all,
I'll be spending a few days in Trinidad after CQWW CW from J6DX and was
hoping to meet with 9Y4VU or 9Y4NZ or any other contesters/hams. If
anyone has a telephone number to pass along, I would greatly appreciate
it. I will be staying in the San Fernando area. Thanks in advance,

It hasn't "always been true". I ask the question in the late 60's. The =
answer was you declare one band as your entry and the other bands are =
check logs.

The calls were put by there old call and in that call area. Also you will
notice a number next to the old call. That is the number of the choice
they receieved. The calls are in the order they were receieved by me.
Also Scott, KA9FOX has all the vanity call info on his home page with a
complete listing if anyone is interested.
I am sorry if this format laps some of the email addresses around. They
are just to long to get all on one line. I did put the new email addresses
people gave me on here so if the mail bounces you will know why.

I AM GETTING A LOT OF SCORES WITH NO POWER OR CLASS ON THEM!!!!!!!
THEY ALL GO INTO THE HIGH POWER OR B CLASS !!!!!!!!
This is the first posting and since I got scores off internet and also
off 3830 itself a score may be on here twice. Just let me know if yours

Subject: single band entries w/ same call???
Message-ID: <50961115165405/0006509309DC1EM@MCIMAIL.COM>
I suspect the distinction here is between a single operator submitting more
than one single band entry under a one call and more than one operator
submitting entries under a single call. One operator may not submit
separate entries for more than one band, while several operators may submit
multiple entries under the same call. Bob stating that no assistance be
exchanged between operators in itself implies that one operator cannot
submit multiple single band entries.

Subject: New service on this reflector.
Message-ID: <2.2.32.19961115175321.0067be68@tiger.avana.net>
The final testing and debugging was completed this morning. It works, and
is now online! We are announcing a new free Vanity Callsign service on the
reflector (sorry, the word 'list' is not in my vocabulary).
As we all now know the subject of Vanity calls (at least to US Amateurs) is
synonymous with Contesting. The case for this has been made again and
again. Even if not valid, it has been made again and again.
Here's how it works:
Every day (working day of the FCC) at 17:00 EST the latest FCC database of
Amateur callsigns is downloaded, and sorted ascending in order of DOB
(that's Date of Birth to the non US readers). As a matter of interest W4RS
is at the top of the list - a desirable callsign soon to become available.
Check it out, he's 107!
Every day (working day at the ARRL) at 17:00 EST the ARRL database are swept
for Life Members whose subscriptions have expired. Thanks to dedication of
the ARRL computer staff (thanks Jim, you can go back to sorting QSL cards
now), this information is merged with our FCC databases.
The matches (on the FCC databases ordered by DOB and the expiry of ARRL Life
membership) point to the availability of callsigns in 730 days.
Orders are now being taken for the callsign of your choice. There is no
limit to the number of requests being made. Just e-mail
vanity-cq-contest@tgv.com and place your preferred callsign in the Subject
field. You will be automatically notified by the contest majordomo when the
callsign of your choice is available, and an electronic 610V will be
submitted on your behalf.
Within the next week to ten days, we expect to have the following
enhancements available to the system:
a) Immediately following the automatic filing of the 610V the system will
frequently autodial the FCC to request a status update on the request.
b) The DOB ordered FCC database will include a 'weighting' factor. This
will be in the form of a flag that determines if the Licensee is (or is not)
a smoker. Smokers will be ordered ahead of non-smokers, as their ARRL Life
memberships are expected to expire earlier. See ** note below on how this
information will be determined.
c) While this service is being offered at no charge to the 'contester' (as
we all are frequently reminded of the relationship between contesting and
callsigns. The logic has even been applied 'How can one contest without a
Callsign'), an option will be provided of making a US$3,000 deposit with
your callsign request. This deposit can be used in two ways: i) as a
retainer for future litigation in the event the FCC does not allocate you
the requested callsign, or ii) you may set a timer as part of your request
whereby in the event the current license holders ARRL Life Membership does
not expire before the timer is set, the funds are automatically transferred
to the IS0 branch of the contest reflector with the request for assistance.
** NOTE: In an effort to determine if the current licensee is (or is not) a
smoker, we request you submit all copies of 'For Sale' ads from your local
packet cluster. We have noted that sellers of used equipment are quick to
point out that they are non-smokers (or is it that their equipment doesn't
smoke). We can load this information into our FCC database to determine the
increased likely hood of expiration of ARRL Life Membership. We have also
noted that sellers of used equipment apparently attach value to having kept
the original shipping cartons. As yet we have not determined how to use
valuable information.

In the past I've never been an afficianado of Dr. Pepper as a contest swill,
but someone within the last year or so mentioned that it is the drink of
choice of K3ZO during tests. I've drained a 6 pack or so during the last few
SS's and it has been intrumental in score improvement. Just thought I'd
mention it if you need some extra help this weekend.
As an aside, not to take anything away from the champ, but I'm sure that
KRzeroY's Q total is due largely to his location in such a rare section. (I
only had 31 NTX's).
Good Luck,
Lou Zinnette

Subject: M/S antenna question...
Message-ID: <199611151829.NAA21417@orion.neca.com>
Ok, here's a question concerning optimum
antenna setup for a brandy-new multi/single
contest station.
How would you set up antennas for the following
tower situation?
Assume the following:
1 - A 70 foot crankup tower which currently
has an A4S at the top.
2 - A hundred foot tower of Rohn 25 located
about 200 feet away from the crankup.
3 - The contest category will be M/S - HP.
4 - The two stations will use Dunestar filters
and Top Ten Decoders.
What I'm looking for is what beams you would
use and on what tower.
There is no possibility of removing or changing
the crankup.
Any comments will be greatly appreciated.

Interesting.
I asked Bob K3est the same question just before CQ WW SSB
started (VP2E come in pj9?) and got that it's a different
callsign for each S/B entry. .... Interesting.

Dear Yuri Blanarovich, K3BU, VE3BMV, P40A, one of N2EE ?
In continuing your one man thread of how you were beaten by a group
of lawless band of renegades, why just you don't admit and accept the
fact that you didn't win, quit crying about it, stop making libelous
actuations and just duct youself away!
This is a great country Yuri, only in America could you receive a vanity
call, and then a club vanity call, and not even live in the U.S of A.
I'm sure if Nicola Tesla was still alive today, he would sue you for
slandering his good name by linking yourself and your non existent? radio
club to him!
I certainly can't see how you could be the trustee of (N2EE) the Nicola
Tesla Radio Club if you can't even be trusted! If you're really a stand up
class guy, why don't you give up your aol membership and use the proceeds
to pay off all the people you swindled with that defunct magazine of yours!
Sincerely,
dr. Bafoofnik

"Random" does not in any sense mean "randomized."
Random simply means the FCC made no guarantee as to how applications would
be processed with respect to any external factor, such as time of arrival,
state of origin, etc. It does not mean that there will be no correlation to
any such factor.

With others also asking when they would arrive I'm surprised at this
date that others had not been reported any earlier, but my writen
hardcopy of the vanity callsign change arrived today November 15,
1996.
The envelope was postage metered on 11/12 and routed through the
local Lancaster, PA Postal Center that night at 0014 EST on 11/13/96.
