Few tech gurus commented on my short note on ICE filter attenuation and
I soon realized that I gave wrong numbers from the top of my head.
So back to Win-95 and ARRL Designer to find out first that capacitors
I mentioned were inside 40m filter :-)
ICE filter for 40m with generous Q=200 will attenute >30dB on 80m,
>20dB on 20m, >30dB on 15m ultimately approaching -50dB on VHF giving
a GOOD TVI protection.
Two-top-coupled-resonant-circuits configuration might be optimal for a
reasonable power handling and as I said at the end (and beginning), we
will happily use ICE again this weekend in WAE RTTY contest under YL Jelka,
S57NW m/s two radios setup.
Give us as many QTC as Internet email lines by now :-)

But remember, the names move around in sprINT. That would muddy up
the callsign recognition waters something fierce.
OTOH, it'd be easier to copy a buncha familiar old callsigns than
stuff like Frelton, Tenente, Hayzoo, Sligo, and Alibaba.

Speaking of errorrrrrrs....... I thought you were only eligiable for
call signs within your own call area ... 3 got va call with a 3 in it
6 wud get a 6....however several 6's, 0's, 3s, and others got 7 land
calls.....
I make this, sour grapes, observation 'cause some of them were calls I
was trying for ... Did I read it wrong? These stns hv mailing addresses in
the call area from which their old call is from......

Nope. The only prohibition was on the blocks reserved for Alaska,
Hawaii, Puerto Rico, etc.

I agree that throwing out the call area boundaries stinks. I imagine
there was a run on 7s by some DX contesters. Thankfully, most all of
the vanity calls I've seen do have the traditional number, and those
who don't will be balanced by the guys & gals who had out-of-area calls
and used this opportunity to get good calls with the 'correct' number.
In fact, at first glance there are more of the latter.

The rule (paraphrased) is that you are allowed to get a callsign from
the area in which you reside, or one from mainland USA. For purposes
of this exercise, all of the 48 states count as a single call area.
In other words, if you live in California, then you are entitled to a
call from W0-W9. If you live in Pago Pago, you are allowed to elect a
AH8/KH8/NH8/WH8 call,or one from W0-W9. If you live in Charlotte
Amalie, you may elect a KP2/NP2/WP2 call or one from W0-W9. If you
live in Madras, you are allowed to pick a call like AT6A, or one from
W0-W9.

1976... Got mine the day before Christmas in '76 and had three calls
that year - all from the same QTH. Since this was also the bi-centennial
year, I also signed AC4OZF and W4OZF before Christmas..
