Just to reinforce the point.... 11 sq. ft. of antenna in a 50 lbs. per sq.
ft. wind gust will reach the 3192 ft. lbs. limit at 5.8 feet above the
tower... the same antenna 10 feet above the tower (very common) will fold the
mast over...
As I have commented before, the best mast for raising an antenna 10 feet is
another section of tower...

A question for the masses:
In Field Day, is it allowable to run a VHF packet station AND a
VHF SSB/CW station at the same time without increasing the
entry class?
The rules for packet (8.A.8) and VHF (8.A.9) each separately state
that they don't count as an additional transmitter. Does this mean
we don't have to take packet off the air while making VHF Q's??
