It sure is nice to live in the South now. Gone are the days of
trying to compete with cheaters, unethical types, etc. This is
like discovering a new tribe of innocent and naive indians in
the Amazon. The ops down here in the South haven't been polluted
and spoiled by obsessive/compulsive competitive madness and you
what? I like it. Andy(KA1GD) and I worked our asses off. We had
no captive rovers, we didn't plan any schemes to work 200 fm
qsos on 2 meters at a hamfest,we didn't run illegal power,we
didn't pad our log. We just worked hard to do the best with what
we had and made the best of it. It was the best contest I have
ever played in as bad as the conditions were. This was the most
fun in a contest I have ever had. It was exhilirating and self
gratifying to finally do an all out from the first and only
piece of property I have ever owned! You guys in the major
cities can keep up your foul play and bickering just don't bring
it here to the South. We like it just the way it is including
our low scores compared to everyone else. Weak signal operating
at its best! Just the way it was intended to be. Ken

Hi gang - Can anyone tell me the real truth about IRQ 9? I've read some
literature syaing you can't use it cuz it's connected to IRQ 2 and ties
all the IRQs together. Got some other literature that says it is normally
"available." Anyone with real-life experience on the subject? This is, of
course, for the CONTEST computer. 73 Barry

"We" use a layer of Scotch 88, then a layer of Scotch 130C (HV rubber splicing
tape used by power company), and a final layer of Scotch 88. Easy to use
as long as you have some clearance around the connector and no messy goop, etc.

I seem to remember that in the closing hours of the CW SS a few years ago
the front runner often sat on 40 CW working all takers at between 20 and
25WPM...his call W4KFC.

Please stay clear of the Dx window between 1830 to 1835 thius weekend in the
CQ 160. Read the rules and let common sense apply unless you want to bring
on the wrath of the Dx station trying the window or the 5, 7 ,or 0 USA
looking for a chance to work some of that DX.
This is a gentlemen's band lets be gentlemen (or gentlepersons).
Good luck to all.
