For those who lack enough top loading in order for their slopers to
work, I offer the following tip: Try adding 40 or 50 feet of hookup wire
to your tower ABOVE the feedpoint of your sloper. Stretch the wire to a
tree or other support. I tried this several years ago when I had only a
tribander for top loading. It did the job FB. This was on 80 meters. When
I got the 204 up I found that I no longer needed it. I also found that I
could tune it to frequency by adding or shortening the length of the top
load wire.
Keep in mind that although you may have a KT34XA for top loading
that its elements are insulated from the boom. The only loading then is
the boom. That may not be enough.
My sloper was very effective and the swr was flat at frequency.

Anybody know an alternative route to get an updated country file? The
CT bbs is resisting my efforts to log on and the weekend is drawing
closer by the moment. Thanks! Eric (KA1GTR)
