Friends

(Yes even those who don't send QRL ? before opening up !)

For my fantastic stacked antenna system (using the Brand X tribander)
I was thinking of either buying or making a Ring Rotor of the TIC
variety. Otherwise we are into limited rotation.

Does anyone please have a manual of the Ring Rotor or some fairly
detailed info they could send me please ? Also what is the ring rotor
costing these days (did I hear mention of a 50% price hike ?).

What's all this flap over the C3?

I have the company's catalog, and thsy claim a gain of 10.2 - 10.6
dB over a freespace dipole, which is about 4.2 - 4.6 dB over a
dipole at the same height above earth. Claimed F/B is 14 - 20 dB.

Sounds about right to me, respectable, but certainly no giant
killer. Give the company credit for being very specific and
reasonable on how they quote the gain figures.

By the way, it's 1130 a.m. Friday here, and the tropo on 10 and
15 is HOT! See you on those bands on the hour and half hour
respectively throughout the _entire_ NAQP CONTEST this weekend.

I must disagree. I find the gain figures too fudgeable.

They're comparing their Yagi over ground against a dipole in free space.
Is that ground the mythical flat, perfectly-conducting ground? Also,
how many of us use dipoles in free space (not over ground)?

It would be better to see numbers comparing their Yagi over ground
against a dipole over the same ground.

Or, better yet, compare their Yagi in free space against a dipole in
free space. This way I won't have to guess what elevation angle or what
height above ground they've picked to do the comparison.

Lest my attitude towards Force-12 antennas be misconstrued, let me close
by saying it's my impression that Tom/N6BT & Co. make absolutely FB
stuff. It's just this one marketing-hype point that bugs me.

Sometimes ya just gotta jump in...

I guess my call was a prophesy fulfilled:

WM2C, or We Moved To California!

     Ken, WM2C/6

On a different note, the best California License plate I saw was:
