And that means a minute someone on the other end has wasted waiting for you

Agreed. That's the entire objective. You want it, and everyone else in the
pile-up wants it.

If you do NOT ID often, people in your pile-up will get discouraged and move
on. Trust me. I spend nearly all of my time in contest S & Ping. If I want to
maximize my score, I can't spend too much time waiting around for someone to
ID, especially if they may be a dupe.

Since I work mainly phone contests, I don't see how this will help me....
Perhaps the people in your pileup weren't licensed last year. Perhaps they
don't
have a good enough memory to realise that one out of hundreds of QSO's used
this unique exchange. Perhaps someone else started copying your technique.

of dupes.

Gee, I think it's pretty funny that a DX station could make this connection
between ARRL DX and ARRL SS better than most American contesters

K8MR CQ 160 SSB SINGLE OPERATOR HIGH POWER OHIO
470/58 59,736 4:15 HOURS
The only DX was KP2A. Missed ID, VE7, VE8, VY1, VO2.
Operated about 10 minutes each morning and from 2300 to
0300 Sat evening. It was fun being a new guy the second night
and keeping the last 100 qso rate meter up in the 135 range!
I took on the issue of meaningless signal reports, and also
honored the San Francisco 49ers 49 points in the Super Bowl by
using the special "Forty-nine Ohio" contest exchange.
Unfortunately I didn't work many northern Californians who would
have most appreciated it. I had a couple of guys complain about
having to go to all sorts of trouble to handle the 49 signal
report. Haven't they in all their years learned to hit the tab
key to find the RS(T) field?

RESULTS:
Below are the results of the "survey". Well, affirmation was made that I appear
to be doing things the right way, atleast according to majority. 44 out of the
63 respsonses or 70% said they use CT for the primary keying method. Everyone
who responded said they use a paddle, bug or somesort of key for their fill
ins or non standard exchanges.

The latest edition of Buckmaster has a problem in that it omits
approximately 6,000 U.S. calls. You can check, mine is one of them.
