This was the first semi-serious contest from the new QTH. Put the antenna
up the day before the contest. Really enjoyed Friday night, Saturday was
like SS Sunday afternoon. Thanks to all that worked me. See you next year
with bigger and better stuff!

Yes, it is boring the second night. I was just thinking of writing to
Billy Lunt and expressing my private views on the matter...not as a
complainer or flamer, but just a sensible discussion. You can do so well
Friday nite that you think you're on the way to a new interglobal record,
but as soon as you begin the Saturday Nite Live portion of the contest,
you find that it almost doesn't matter what you did Friday nite. You are
destined to an absolutely grueling night. By the end of the contest, I
wonder why I wait for it all year!
In my opinion, the contest should last from 2200Z Friday until about 1400Z
Saturday. Now, guess how far that opinion will go. Anyway, it is a great
contest and gives little midwestern guys a chance to play. And the
operators on 160 are by far the cream of the crop in terms of courtesy.
(By the way...that second nite-when you're down around 6 or 8 per
hour-it's easy to forget your manners as you dive in after a live one.
Sorry if I got too close in desparation for a few seconds.)
Well, thanks anyway for the Spike and Bob show at W3GH featuring the
flying wedge. I ALWAYS stop and chat with my friends there, and come
away in much better humor and slightly refreshed!
73, and C U in the next 160 test (although I think the ARRL is the best!)
