yeah this annoys me too. In fact it reminds me of a something
that happened during the WPX ssb contest this spring.
I was tuning up 15m about 30 mins into the contest when I
came across ky1h calling CQ. Here is what happened.
stn1 - CQ CONTEST KY1H over.
me - WB5VZL
stn1 - WB5VZL you're 59 67.
me - you're 59 50 - thanks.
And just as I was tuning off I hear.
stn1 - thanks - QRZ WZ1R over.
so I tune back on frequency - just as he starts again.
stn1 - CQ CONTEST KY1H over.
so I call him and ask him if he would like me to log KY1H or WZ1R.
he says he is WA1R - I tell him he should listen to his cq message.
remeber - this all occured 30+ minutes into the contest.
mmmmm. wonder how many people worked KY1H on 15m in that 30 mins.
does anyone remeber the post that N6TR did on voice keyers?
it was called "BEWARE THE DVP". I think that it brought up
some really good points about why a voice keyer is not like
a cw keyer and why it is important to be "live".
I thought it was so good I saved it - maybe I should repost it.

132 Qs. I'm just starting to get the hang of this sprint format.
Good conditions on 20 the whole contest, including some excellent
short skip into NH and Ohio. As always, the 5's were real fat
into NJ. Dave k5gn worked me 9 times.
No Qs on 40. I checked it a few times but no activity.
At about 0245z I was startled by a very loud thunder clap from a
nearby lightning strike. I turned everything off, grounded the
antennas, and stepped outside to check out the storm. After a
couple of minutes of contemplating the frequency of strikes, the
height of my 50' tower, and the thickness of my rubber earphone
pads, I said "what the hell" and turned things back on for the
last few minutes.

20 was very strong here in 6-land and 40 was a waste of time. The Texas
gang was _VERY_ loud. Lots of unanswered CQs. Most fun was working DL1IAO six
times, (and OH7MA once). Least fun was getting stomped on by N6TV all
the time (heh). I figured Jeff(Kroy) had gone somewhere or had been
dodging a thunderstorm, and he confirmed it by giving me nr 86 with 10 mins
left in the contest. 108 Q's, much fun. BTW, who was OODLE?

Its me again,
I still saying, I dont see no problem using a Voice keyer, only if you
know that the message that is using is ok.
I think is a help for the ssb operators as like cw keyer for us the CW
addicted.

Participation was up, conditions sucked. 20 really changed during the
contest...at the start I couldn't copy the NJ guys, but they were 599
during the second hour. No propagation at all to TX...loudest here in IL
most of the time was K6XO. 119 Q's, started with "Dilbert".
