Eastern Thrace (TA1) may not be the only hitherto hidden CQ WW country. I
recall several years ago that Lampedusa Island (IH9) in Zone 33 or 34 was
activated by an Italian Multi-op group and was good for a multiplier. The
rationale, as near as I can figure it, was obscure, but ran as follows:
Both DXCC and WAE countries count as multipliers in the CQ WW.
Lampedusa is a part of Italy, but as it lies in Africa, it cannot count for
WAE.
Therefore Lampedusa is distinct from the WAE country known as Italy.
It seems a bit tenuous, but this has never stopped a lot of countries from
being added to the DXCC list.
Can anyone confirm if CQ will still consider Lampedusa as a separate multiplier
from Italy?
Are there any other odd bits of geography that we have been overlooking?

Lampedusa I. does count as a separate multiplier in CQWW. It counts as
Sicily, IT9, which is on the WAEDC but not DXCC list.
