1992 Phone Ratings
With the publishing of the Phone Results for the CQWW Contest in
the September CQ Magazine we now have results from all the 1992
contests (CQWW, WPX, Sweepstakes, and ARRL DX) that are used in
the WA0RJY Rating System.
For these standings only phone scores from the 6th and 7th Call
Districts for 1992 contests are used. In essence all the phone
operators in these call districts were competing against all the
other phone operators in the districts during 1992.
Points are accumulated in a very simple manner - one rating point
is awarded for every Western USA opponent (regardless of class -
high power, low power, QRP, single band, assisted, etc.) that was
defeated in one of the scoring contests! For instance, if
W7XYZ's score was better then 158 other 6th and 7th call area
scores in the 1992 Phone Sweepstakes - then he is awarded 158
points for his effort. Simple.
Thanks to those who looked over the previous WA0RJY List and sent
suggestions. As several of you suggested, I have given the score
for guest operations to the guest operator. As Ward, N0AX, says,
"Part of being a good op is finding a good location to operate
from." Makes sense.
And remember, this list awards active operators! Some of the
best contesters on the West Coast did not make this list not
because they don't score highly when they enter - but because
they just aren't active enough. As Jack, WA0RJY, says, "If
they're real contesters, what contests do they enter if not CQWW,
SS, WPX, and ARRL DX? The West Virginia QSO Party?"
Certificates of achievement will be sent to the top finishers in
each category listed below.
