FOR K2WK'S QUESTION ABT 2 WIRE BVG.
I PUT UP A 2 WIRE BVG TO USE THE HOUSE END OF MY LONG AND NARROW
QTH AS A SINGLE FEED POINT FOR 2 DIRECTIONS. IT WORKED VERY WELL
FOR ABOUT 4 YEARS UNTIL IT ICED UP AND BROKE IN SEVERAL PLACES.
I NEVER DID PUT IT BACK UP BUT IT WORKED FINE.
THE ANTENNA WAS ABOUT 370 FEET LONG, 10 FEET HIGH, SPACED 12 INCHES
USING HOME MADE POLYSTYRENE INSULATORS. I WAS VERY CAREFUL TO MAKE
THE WIRES PARALLEL AND EQUAL HEIGHT, BUT YOU PROBABLY DO NOT HAVE TO
BE THAT NERVOUS ABOUT IT.
THE TRANSFORMERS WERE BOTH MINI-CIRCUITS: PUSH-PULL WAS
9 TO 1 (IMPEDANCE) CENTER TAPPED AND THE SINGLE ENDED WAS
A 5 TO 1; USED TWO SEPERATE FEED LINES OF RG59 (75 OHMS)
BECAUSE I HAD A BUNCH OF IT AROUND.
ON 80 METERS THE FRONT TO BACK WAS AT LEAST 2 S-UNITS.
ON 160 IT WAS NOT AS GOOD, BUT IT WORKED ADEQUATELY IN
BOTH DIRECTION; IE I COULD HEAR THINGS I COULD NOT HEAR
ON MY INVERTED VEE AND THERE WAS SOME F/B BUT NOT AS GOOD AS 80.
