K1DG's tests of the 930 confirm my own observations. (Mine's fairly early, SN about 2.9 million.) None of the spurs is a problem in normal operation, and phase noise is only a problem when there is a very strong adjacent signal. The 850 looks attractive, I'll admit, but I don't like the low output power, relatively high IMD, and poor filter selection. I don't understand why Kenwood tried to make it into a mobile rig, when they already have a couple of those. Oh well. 73, Scott K9MA |
