The book mentioned by Trey is indeed an excellent
intro to Internet. It is concise but entertaining,
with just the right level of detail for the Internet
novice or casual user who wants to know what is
really going on and how to get involved without
too much mystery. Good index and source list. Weak
on suggestions of real, existing software to make
it easier to use (i.e. no mention of xmh or xrn for
X users or cc:Mail or ATTmail or Notes for PC users, etc.)
Good vignettes capture the essence and potential of
the Internet. Good general netiquette advice.
Inspiring foreward "by" Al Gore. Highly recommended.
