The CAC mail these days includes a fair amount of queries about some
perceived abuse of the Rover category in VHF/UHF contests. Since I get a
nose bleed above 30Mhz, I'd like any comments any of you "high altitude"
guys out there might have.
The hot issue revolves around groups of rovers who travel in caravan to a
"4-grid-corner" with 3-4 bands in each vehicle, then each vehicle in turn
goes to each of the 4 grids, works everyone in company on each band, and
then off to the next similar "corner' and they do it all over again. The
complaint is that these folks run up a big score for their club, but others
have little chance to work them, and that this practice outside the
"spirit" intended of the rover concept. (I've probably oversimplified and
distorted, but you get the picture.)
Anyone out there who has thoughts, of either persuation, drop them to me
here, or if you wish, by paper mail at CBA.
