Subject: [antennaware] Modelling beams with linear loading, NEC 4 for the monetarially challenged?

I suspect that my note last night may have been in advance of many folks
with questions on NEC-4 subscribing.

If you qualify for educational institution pricing, the license is $150.

Both EZNEC Pro and GNEC come with optimized cores to run most effectively
with their software interfaces. Hence, while you receive a Fortran
version of NEC-4 with the license, the manual is the most valuable
independent object you get, unless you decide to use one of the available
compilers and then write or adapt your own input/output software.

See the current QEX for information on contacting sources, with Web URLs,
or see the note on sources at my site. Bot include e-mail addresses for
sources for ease of communication.

NEC-4 improves on NEC-2 by a lot, but has its own limitations. THose of
most note to hams will appear in the next issue of QEX. Unless you
antenna projects challenge NEC-2 limits, NEC-4 may not be cost-effective.
However, for serious modeling, keep a version of MININEC available for
some problems the NECs cannot handle well.

Hope this is useful.
