I have a friend in Thailand who recently zorched out L5 in his 77DX. Believe it or not, a small lizard got into the tank circuit and when he was tuning on 80 meters, L5 got extremely hot - to the point of cracking both of the torroidal cores! Does anyone know what specific cores were used or if not, what the approximate value of inductance that L5 should be? I assume these are iron powder cores. I'm trying to help him remotely or perhaps send him a replacement Greg K1YW _______________________________________________ Amps mailing list Amps@contesting.com http://lists.contesting.com/mailman/listinfo/amps |
