Silly as it may sound, I had a transformer problem years ago, the solution was 
having it rewound by an electric motor rebuilding shop.
This idea was suggested to me by my father who did not have a ham license.
Followed his suggestion, got the amp back to life, used it for several more 
yeas until I sold it.
