I'm not an amp builder, but my EE classes included load lines for tubes
so that we could compute their dynamic output resistance, so this advice
seems spot on to me.
Our class of '64 was the last to have to buy a complete set of RCA tube
manuals, which I still have (and would gladly sell). I also bought the
red transmitting tube manual.
