Thanks Vic... But... My cap has no plates on the rotor on the first
section (right behind the front panel). They are completely missing!
I do have a brand new load cap from a Henry or Drake L4, but its almost
2 inches too long to fit into the TL-922.
Thanks for the idea though!
Thanks, 73, Jim W7RY

I did this on my TL-922. The loading cap arced after I very stupidly
ran it with high SWR. I took the cap out -- it was impossible to do it
in place -- and used a needle file, relay burnishing tool, and fine
sandpaper to clean the plates up. It was difficult because the spacing
on the loading cap is very small.
I had lots of time to think about what an idiot I was. Believe me, I
am very careful about SWR since then.

Could you possibly disassemble the cap assy and replace/repair only
the damaged plates?? I just did this on a 9500, and that's what I
plan on doing with the TL-922 if it ever goes.. More commonly it's
the Plate tune caps that arc the most, especially with high vswr. I
think the swr has to be much worse to cause arcing at the load cap..

I've had AL82 plate tuning capacitor on order from Ameritron (MFJ)
for almost six months Ameritron parts list shows as 190pf 4.5kV -
C19 on schematic I suspect the 190pf is max capacitance

Is there something unusual about the TL922 load cap that makes
it impossible to find a generic variable that will fit into the
space? We inherited a box full from an estate a while ago,
possibly there could be a qualified candidate in it.
