The Hercules II uses a separate 14V 80A power supply and the interconnecting DC
power cable is hot as hell, in my experience -- having owned one back in the
90s.

Big difference between that and the self-contained SB-230.

From 1-5 on grounding, in the Ten Tec maual.

"In the interst of personal safety and to reduce the possibility of stray RF
pickup on interconnecting cables, all station equipment should be well grounded
to earth. It is important to strap all equipment chassis together with short
heavy wire."

The SB-230 may not be as susceptible to problems, as the Ten Tec, when it comes
to grounding.

If you are getting stray RF back into the driving transmitter, then this will
be amplified and may cause any number of problems, including the Uncle Fester
light bulb effect.
