Colin,
I believe the theory that a pulse of high current DC causes the contact to
repel. A long pulse may actually weld the contacts. A 35 volt charged
5000mfd capacitor may be the best alternative.
Remember my indisputable theory. "That which works best works." Nobody to
my knowledge has ever disproven that truism.
