K5SVC buys Machlett (Chinese) in larger quantities and offers a 1 year
warranty. If you are looking to replace a 3CX1500A7 (AL-1500 Ameritron)
the price is about 1/3rd what vendors charge for Eimac. His price is
only $600 and IMHO this is a better choice.

One thing is known for certain, Machlett is only the name and not the
original company. They have long been out of business and Eimac bought
their assets and product line over a decade ago. Machlett was
originally a major power tube manufacturer for industrial tubes,
radar, pulsed power, and transmitters; they had association with
Raytheon.
Anything using that name now is likely a knock off and is just a name,
just like Taylor tubes (not the same as the old Taylor) and RCA.
Its probably not their tooling and designs unless Eimac sold them off.

seems to get the best reviews. Any idea what the deal is with these
Machlett 'factory direct' models? They are $90 less than rfparts. Are
they the rejects from elsewhere or the manufacturer trying to undercut
the market?
