Not by a lot though -- it mostly matters when you're on the edge of the
other guy's noise.

## 1.76 db is nothing to sneeze at. Look how much bigger any ant has to be to
get another 1.76db of gain. The bigger amp will work on all 9 HF bands.
Albeit the bigger amp only works on TX. Your 20m yagi only works on 20m.
How are you going to manage another 1.76db on 160m band.
You can juggle the numbers about any way you want. If your coax loss was say
2.76 db.... and you could reduce it by 1.76 db.... down to just 1 db, most
would
jump on that concept. Perhaps increase the height of an ant that is not too
high
to begin with, say another 1.76 db. Lengthen the boom a bit, perhaps another
1 db. All these dbs start to add up. Individually at 1st glance, each
looks like
a wasted effort. 667 watts is only 1.76 db down from 1 kw, so why not run 667w.
The folks running 445 watts will think its a waste of effort going to 667
watts, since they
only achieve ... 1.76 db. Minimize all the losses, and maximize everything
else. Thats
as good as it gets.
