I tried Tarn-X, which contains thiourea, in the early 1990's. Although it
indeed quickly shined the silver, it seemed to leave an invisible residue
that eventually deteriorated the silver. I tried it several times, and no
matter how much I soaked, swabbed, and rinsed it off, the finish didn't
stay bright. Sure, silver tarnishes, but something else was happening.
Perhaps I did something wrong, but I'll never use Tarn-X again to clean
silver-plated contacts.
Google "tarn-x ruined my silver" (without the quotes.) You be the judge.
I'll stick with DeoxIT D5 followed by DeoxIT S-Shield, thank you.
