In Europe the proper connection is to 240V life wire and neutral and chassis
ground to safety ground.

Yes, or something similar. Make sure that you feeding the amp with the
two sides of 240 V, NOT between hot and neutral or hot and ground.
I don't know the L7, so I don't know if it uses 120V for anything (like
a fan), but the proper connection of 240V is two hots and a ground, NOT
neutral. Neutral should be connected ONLY if there's a 4th wire in the
amp cable for that 120V fan.
