The places I've seen porcelain caps used were ones where tubes were exposed,
and the porcelain caps were for safety reasons. How much you need to dissipate
is an interesting question, since conduction along the relatively thin wires
from the actual plate to the cap can't be that much, unlike the big glass
tubes (4-125, -250, -400, 3-500Z) which had a substantial piece of metal to
hold the plate.
The UK manufactured KW1000 had connectors made of hard copper strip by the
metal bashing company that was used: they never got hot enough to anneal soft.
I'd go down that route - some 18 gauge 3/8 or 1/2 inch wide copper strip,
hammered well to work harden it and bent to be a snug fit.

Plate cap.
The porcelain caps dont dissipate heat and Im surprised Ameritron didnt use
aluminum heat dissipators as with their 3-500 amps. Even the AL-572 uses
Chinese porcelain.
