Hi Guys,
I built my 2x813 kilowatt amplifier here some 20 years ago, using 2 of 3 used
tubes that cost me all of ten bucks in total from a local friend...
About 5 years ago I thought I should replace them, and did just that, with a
pair of N.I.B. 813s that were given to me---free---by VE3IHK, who stored them
for years in his basement...and when I first got them, I kept them in my fruit
cellar...
...And as for the date code stamped on the tube boxes...? JULY 1957! I was all
of five years old at the time...
Those rascals are STILL going strong here, & see daily use---they're no
different from the old TIMEX watch commercial slogan, IMHO...

PS: All the 813s that I've ever used were of the graphite-plate variety---no
tin plates used here, ever, although I do have a pair in my rubble pile for
possible "...future use."
