Regards to your question about series filaments:
I have not used the tubes you speak of, but have used and serviced several
amps using the 3-500. In every case the filaments were in series. The thing
you must remember is that a center tap transformer is required. The reason
for this is that no two tubes are alike. Each filament will be a little
different, thus the voltage (without center tap) would not be half of the
total voltage. that would mean that one of the tubes would have higher
voltage thus burn out sooner because of voltage stress. The only current
that travels through the Center tap is the "difference" and not the total
current. Very important consideration. Hope this helps. If you need to ask
