Subject: [Amps] AL-82a Problem
Tonight I was working away in the 160m contest, suddenly noticed no output
from the amp, HV was fine, drive was fine. I stopped and fooled with it a
little, then went to 20m and tuned up, fine good power, went to 80m the
same. The SWR on 160m runs around 1.5 plus or minus a little.
Went back to 160m and tuned up, no power output, then suddenly a visible arc
and some smoke in the vicinity of the tube (guessing). Shut it down, then
fired up on 80m, have output around 800w (which is normal). I will get into
it tomorrow, any hints where and what I should look at other than burned
components?
